As Coroner, Dr. Cannon leads the Jefferson County Coroner's Office to establish the cause and manner of death, conduct professional medicolegal death investigations, collaborate work with an extensive list of entities and provide compassion to families as they cope with the loss of a loved one.
Prior to being elected to her first term as the Jefferson County Coroner in November 2018, Annette was Nursing Faculty at Platt College School of Nursing where she taught psychiatric nursing, nursing research, critical thinking, ACLS, and community health nursing. She has over 35 years of nursing experience with the roles of nurse executive, nurse administration, nurse educator, clinical nurse, nurse auditor, and business owner. Annette has served on many professional boards, including her nursing honor society, Sigma Theta Tau / Alpha Kappa Chapter as the Information Technology Chair and now as the Outreach Chair. She is an active member of CNA and ANA and continues her volunteer work on all levels within the community.

Annette was a prior active stakeholder in the Mountain Areas Drug Awareness Partnership and is now a member of the Jefferson County Substance Use Partnership / Opioid Initiative. Currently, Annette owns her own health care education business, Cannon Health Care Consulting and Education, serves as a program evaluator for the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, and is the President of the Jefferson County Nurses Association, District 20, under the Colorado Nurses Association.
